PLATINUM EMERALD

Legendary and event Pokemon

Every legendary and mythical Pokemon of the four games can be caught in Platinum Emerald itself, with no events or trades. The mythicals that needed a real event wait in their event places, opened by a key item you are given after the right Champion.

The levels on this page are base levels, scaled to your progress: your first region keeps its own game's levels, and each region you open after it is scaled to how many regions you have finished (see Levels). Celebi's level 30, for example, can be 76 in a late game.

The only way to Faraway Island, where Mew waits, is from Kanto: talk to the sailor on the Vermilion City pier (the S.S. Anne must have left) and pick Faraway Island. The island's sailor takes you back to Vermilion City. In the grass, chase Mew: it hides and moves away until you reach it.

Darkrai

  • After you beat the Sinnoh Champion and have the National Pokedex, the deliveryman in a Sinnoh Poke Mart hands you the Member Card. The card alone does nothing at the inn: the Lunar Wing has to reach the sailor's son first. In order: (1) in Canalave City, go into the sailor's house by the harbor and talk to the boy having a nightmare; (2) talk to the sailor on the gangway, the one who runs the boat to Iron Island, and agree to sail to Fullmoon Island; (3) in the island's cave, talk to Cresselia, which flies off to roam Sinnoh, and pick up the Lunar Wing it leaves; (4) sail back and talk to the boy, which uses the Lunar Wing and wakes him; (5) with the Member Card in your bag, go into the inn in Canalave City: you fall asleep there and find yourself on Newmoon Island; (6) go inside to meet Darkrai.
  • Newmoon Island: One-time battle: Darkrai, Lv 50

Shaymin

  • After you beat the Sinnoh Champion and have the National Pokedex, the deliveryman in a Sinnoh Poke Mart hands you Oak's Letter, and with it in your bag Shaymin appears in Flower Paradise. The way there is the sea: on Route 224, at the north end of the route, a few steps east of the stone tablet (rocks block the water right in front of it), Surf north across the short stretch of water to Seabreak Path, then follow the path north to Flower Paradise.
  • Flower Paradise: One-time battle: Shaymin, Lv 30

Arceus

  • After you beat all four Champions, the deliveryman in a Sinnoh Poke Mart hands you the Azure Flute. Play it at the top of Spear Pillar to reach the Hall of Origin and Arceus.
  • Hall of Origin: One-time battle: Arceus, Lv 80
