Special encounters

Getting there

  • Meteor Falls: Jirachi: after the Hoenn Hall of Fame, go to the back room on Meteor Falls B1F; a cave mouth opens there. Step through it into the statue room and talk to the statue.
  • Cave of Origin: In Sootopolis City. Wallace is on the lowest floor; his story is what opens Sky Pillar.
  • Icefall Cave: Needs the Rainbow Pass, which comes from the Celio quest: finish the Tri-Pass islands, get the National Pokedex (it opens when you beat any Champion), bring Celio the Ruby from the Ruby Path cave in Mt. Ember, and he swaps your Tri-Pass for the Rainbow Pass. The Seagallop then sails to every Sevii island. The cave is on Four Island; Lapras is in its water, so bring Surf.
  • Lost Cave: Needs the Rainbow Pass, which comes from the Celio quest: finish the Tri-Pass islands, get the National Pokedex (it opens when you beat any Champion), bring Celio the Ruby from the Ruby Path cave in Mt. Ember, and he swaps your Tri-Pass for the Rainbow Pass. The Seagallop then sails to every Sevii island. Nothing else is needed. On Five Island, Surf north through the Water Labyrinth to Resort Gorgeous; the Lost Cave entrance is at the east end of Resort Gorgeous. Murkrow lives here, and a Dusk Stone (see its item page) turns it into Honchkrow.
  • Wayward Cave: Both doors are on Route 206 near Eterna City. Gible lives only on the lower floor, which you reach from the first floor by the stairs at the north-west and east sides.
  • Iron Island: Take the boat from Canalave City (the sailor on the gangway). Riley gives you the Riolu egg after you help him against Team Galactic in the cave; keep a free party slot.
  • Burned Tower: Raikou and Entei (level 40) start to roam Johto the first time you walk into the basement. Suicune (level 40) waits at the back of the basement once you have beaten the Johto Champion.
  • Ilex Forest: Celebi: after you beat the Johto Champion, the deliveryman in a Johto Poke Mart gives you the GS Ball. Give it to the shrine in the forest.
  • Whirl Islands: Lugia is in the deepest part, level 45. You need the Silver Wing: the director in the Goldenrod Radio Tower gives it to you after you beat Archer on the top floor. Show it to the man at the waterfall.
  • Cliff Cave: From Cianwood City go through Cliff Edge Gate to Route 47; the cave entrances are on that route.

Evolves into

Levels are this area's own. In your first region they stay as shown; in a region you open later they are raised to match your progress, unless you started that region fresh. See levels.
